The Hangonsilta area is acting as a pilot project of smart urban development. Planning in the area is based on the 3D city model, where for example building information models (BIM) can be imported to the GIS environment. At the moment, the information is gathered through the external interface services and can be stored, shared and published via open source code MAPGETS application platform. The integration of building permit management into the city model is one of the examples of the future development. There is also a possibility to use a 3D virtual conference room as a portal for the information sharing and interaction of various fields of the city’s services. We are looking forward to tracking down ideas and applications to support interaction between city’s organization, businesses and inhabitants. We also welcome ideas which are related to the use and management of the environment and have potential to improve city’s services and sense of community first in Hangonsilta area and, in the long term, in the whole Hyvinkää.

Jätkäsaari is one of Finland’s largest urban development projects. It has been quickly transforming from a goods port to a lively, mixed-use neighbourhood, an extension of downtown Helsinki. Located 2 km away from the city centre, Jätkäsaari is easily accessible by foot, bike and trams. The redevelopment began in 2008 when the cargo port relocated freeing up 100 hectares of land for housing, parks and commercial real estate.
