Ken Dooley (Granlund)

“Digital Twin – the playground for the platform economy”

Ken Dooley is a Senior Specialist in Digitalisation at Granlund. He has over 15 years’ experience as a consultant in the built environment and has worked in London, Sydney, Dublin and Helsinki.

His current role in the innovation and development department involves research, lean experimentation, collaboration with startups and the development of Granlund’s future products and services. The focus is mostly in the areas of end user solutions, IoT and data analytics, energy, sustainability, circular economy, sharing economy and digital platforms.

He is currently working on two large European research projects which are NewTREND and eTeacher. NewTREND aims to develop a new software driven design methodology for large city areas. The focus here is on improving the energy efficiency of the European building stock. While, eTeacher is developing tools that encourage and enable building users to change their energy consuming behaviour.

He is also completing his doctorate at Aalto University. His research there is related to environmental innovations and large corporations and it is expected to be completed in early 2018. Ken has published three scientific journal articles in 2017 and earlier in the year he gave presentations at the World Sustainable Built Environment in Hong Kong and the Nordic Smart Building Convention in Helsinki.

Ken will share the stage with fellow Granlund expert Tero Järvinen.
